Curriculum

Daniela De Venuto received the M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering, in 1989 and the PhD degree in 1992, from MIUR working at the Dipartimento di Elettrotecnica ed Elettronica of the Politecnico di Bari, Italy. In 1993 she held a Postdoctoral position in electronics, at the same Department. From 1994 until 2003 she has been Assistant professor in electronics at the Faculty of Engineering, Università of Lecce and after in Bari. From 2003 she is Professor at the Polytechnic of Bari, teaching Electronics and Automatic Design of Electronic circuits and Systems,(BSc) and Design of Electronic Integrated Circuits (MSc) at the Faculty of Engineering, Politecnico di Bari
From 1995 she is associate researcher at the National Institute of Nuclear Physics INFN and she has been involved in several projects in the area of design and characterization of silicon drift detector for high energy particles and in collaboration with CERN, Geneva (Switzerland), working on testing of pixel-detector analogue front-end in the frame of “A Large Ion Collider Experiments (ALICE)”, project, still running. In 2000 she has been Visiting Professor at Ecole Polytecnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland) where she spent Sabbatical period since 2000 until 2001 working in an European Project on Hall sensor front-end and read-out ASIC in SOI technology. Since 2002, she has been for 3 years Visiting Scholar at the University of Seattle, Electronic Department (USA) and from 2002-2005 Visiting Professor at the University of Lancaster (UK), Centre for Microsystems Engineering, where she has been involved in the frame of the European Project: Testability of Analogue Macrocells Embedded in System-on-Chip (TAMES2). In this topic she is coauthor of a patent in collaboration with the Politecnico di Torino, Italy on fully digital meetod for testing high resolution sigma-delta ADC. Furthermore she has been involved also in a second European project (still running) for the creation of an excellence network on design and test of electronic microsystems including sensor and MEMS (PATENT).
From the first of September 2008 until the first of March 2009 she has been in sabbatical period at IMEC (Leuven, Belgium) working for the NXP (founded by Philips) in a project on RFID tag design to monitor perishable product (food, medicament, blood, flowers,..). The collaboration with the NXPs is still on going and already produced after the design, the implementation of ultra-low power interfaces for the RFID tag embedded sensors. From September 2012 until the end of February 2015 she has been as Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley (US) working at EECS Dept and at the BWRC Lab on Brain Machine Interface. The collaboration is still on going and prof. De Venuto is visiting professor at UC Berkeley..
Prof. De Venuto is also member of the Editorial Board of Microelectronic Journal (Elsevier) and she is also reviewer of several international journals as well as IEEE TCAD (Guest editor for the special issue on ISQED 04-13) and IEEE Transaction on circuit and systems, IEEE Sensors (guest editor in 2012) and also of several international conferences as ITC, IEEE VTS, IEEE ISQED, DATE.
She is also the founder and workshop Chair of the IEEE IWASI (International Workshop on Advances in Sensors and Interfaces) that is held each two years in Bari area and offers an interdisciplinary platform to discuss research topics in the frame of sensors and interfaces.
Her research interests are in design of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit, in particular design of detectors, sensor and biosensor interfaces for medical and environmental applications. More recently she is leading national and international projects on remote driving, FPGA based platform for gait analysis by synchronous monitoring of EEG and EMG and mechatronics device control.
