Curriculum

Professor Enrico De Tuglie in 1994 received his “Laurea Degree” cum laude in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Bari. In Novemeber 1996 he started his Ph.D. course at the same Polytechnic in the area of electrical energy systems. In 2000, he obtained his Ph.D. discussing a thesis entitled “the dynamic security of the transmission system in a de-regulated environment”. In January, 1999 he held the position of researcher in the area of power system at the Department of Electrical and Electronic of the Polytechnic of Bari. From December, 2003 he hold the position as Associate Professor at the 2nd Engineering Faculty of the same Polytechnic.
The research activity of Prof. De Tuglie has been focused on the following main topics:
•Impacts of the distributed generation on electrical distribution systems and the quality control of the electric Energy;
•Evaluation of contributes deriving from distributed generation technologies and energy efficiency actions on energetic planning studies;
•Methodologies for the development of control strategies in large-scale power systems;
•Extended real-time control of the dynamic security in the transient time scale;
•Electrical energy competitive markets and congestion managements due to dynamical problems;
•Competitive markets and the management of system losses, line flows and reactive powers in the transmission system;
•The load flow service in deregulated electric markets.
On the above referred topics, Professor De Tuglie is author or coauthor of 1 Italian patent pending and many scientific publications, most of them appearing on international journals.
Prof. De Tuglie has been the referee of research projects of the Consortium for Electric Reliability Technology Solutions (CERTS) and the Electric Power Group (EPG) for the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).
Prof. De Tuglie participated to many research programs and he has been the scientific responsible of the following research grants:
- Rizzo Costruzioni s.r.l. entitled "Performance study of a photovoltaic plant in actual operation and environment conditions";
- Rienergia S.r.L. – Action OR1 of the research project entitled "Sistema fotovolanico";
- Somprogest S.r.l. entitled “Study of innovative technologies for the minimization of electric consumptions of public lightening systems”;
- Teknika Europiane - Action T2.3“Design, , Execution and Testing of electric plants”;
- Esplorative project financed by the Puglia Region entitled “Performances Control of photovoltaic plants connected to electrical energy distribution systems”.
From November 2007 through January 2008, Prof. De Tuglie has been Visiting Scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) of the Department of Energy (DOE), cooperating with the Energy Technology Development Group in the area treating problems related to the integration of nonprogrammable renewable plants in electrical systems.
