Biografia
Paolo Lino graduated in Electrical engineering at Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, on 19.07.2000, defending his thesis on Electrical Machines titled “Intelligent Control of Electric Drives using Fuzzy Regulators” (top marks), and obtained the Professional Engineer qualification on February 2001. He received the PhD degree in Electronics and Automation from University of Catania, Italy, in 2004, defending the thesis titled “Modelling problems of Innovative Injection Systems for Internal Combustion Engines” (supervised by Prof. Luigi Fortuna).
In 2003 he has been a Visiting Scholar at the ACE Center of University of New Mexico, USA, under the supervision of prof. Mo Jamshidi, working on the application of Intelligent DEVS to mobile robotics in unstructured environments, within the V-Lab project, NASA NRA Grant Number NAG 2-147. From 2004 to 2010 he has been a Research Fellow at Polytechnic of Bari.

Curriculum
Paolo Lino is a tenured assistant professor at Polytechnic of Bari, where he teaches Control of Robots and Digital Control Systems. In the past, he taught University courses on Industrial Automation, Process Control Systems, Digital Control Systems, as well as advanced courses on control systems for Professional Masters Programs (FIAT Research Center, Bosch CVIT, etc.). He has also been the Teaching Coordinator of a Professional Master Program in “Technological Innovation in Mechatronics” at the Polytechnic University of Bari.
He is a co-author of 80+ peer-reviewed papers published in international conference proceedings, international journals or book chapters. He has been part of National and International funded research projects involving leading mechatronics companies, also being the team leader of specific research activities.
In 2002, he was the recipient of the “Student Award” of the International IEEE 2002 ISIE Conference, and in 2010, he received the “IMACS 2009 most successful papers award” from the International Association for Mathematics and Computers in Simulation. He has been a member of the International Program Committees of many international conferences on Control.
His main research interests are in the field of linear and nonlinear control, fractional order systems, modelling and control of automotive and mechatronic systems.
